Jasper has a success
story all of his own... rescued from a sale yard, he
went from a no-name underfed, unwanted horse to
a beautiful, kind member of the Long family. Not only is
he beautiful, but he has been
extremely easy to work with, and seems to enjoy his job
as a mounted shooting horse.
Kenda,
Well, I did it, my first real match with Jasper.
After only 2 months of being in training with you, I
have the ultimate shooting horse custom made for me.For 2 months, I was watching the videos you sent
me regularly of his progress and let me tell you, my
nerves and anxiety grew as the time approached for me to
finally be able to go out there and shoot by myself.
Wow, what an experience. My horse was so handy, he
stayed rated, he didn’t get nose bleeds from his head
being straight up in the air, and I felt comfortable the
whole time.HE was perfect, I on the other
hand, let him down a little. I wasn’t totally sure what
I had under me and I “chickened out” a bit.I think I worried too much about the “what-if’s”,
I kept anticipating for the “something” to happen and
didn’t concentrate on the positive. I have some serious
work to do on myself, but my horse, again, WOW.I’m sure you’ll recall when I first dropped him
off to you and it was time for us to head back home, you
had just finished working him and tied him to the rail.
I was a little concerned, wondering why you were tying
him to the rail.He tied “fine”, or so I
thought. At the match this past weekend, he was falling
asleep tied to the rail! The tractor was
going in and out right next to him, horses were ending
their run in front of him, flinging dirt in his face and
still, he slept on! Someone actually approached me and
complimented me on how well my horse “tied” to the rail.Again, thank you, it’s not something I thought he
had issues with when I had him, but now thinking back,
he tied alright, but he antagonized whoever was tied
next to him, and he’d “worry” if I wasn’t right next to
him. In short, I can’t thank you enough for the amazing
little horse you’ve created for me.I can
only imagine how much better he’ll be one month from
now. I can’t wait for my next match.I’m
practicing at home already. I actually rode Henry
yesterday, wearing my guns and loping like mad (he’s a
lot of horse compared to Jasper) aiming and shooting
down my arm at targets. You’ll see a brand
new rider as well next time you see me. I won’t let you
and your hard work or Jasper down ever again.I’m going to make you proud to say, “That’s my
student”. Thanks for everything. Manon.
